What is Lifecoaching?

Lifecoaching is a practice with the aim of helping clients determine and achieve personal goals.
A Lifecoach will use multiple methods that will help clients with the process of setting and reaching goals.
Lifecoaching also draws inspiration from disciplines including Sociology, Psychology, Positive Adult Development, Career Counselling, Mentoring and other types of Counselling.
As a Lifecoach I will enable you to make better, more positive decisions and goal setting methodologies to help motivate and enable you to succeed in your chosen path or career.
Coaching is a modern and rapidly growing method for helping others to improve, develop, learn new skills, find personal success, achieve aims and manage life change and personal challenges. Life coaching, or personal coaching – different terms are used – is effective for all situations, whether in personal life, career, sales or corporate and business life. Life coaching, personal coaching and similar coaching of these types are different to traditional training. Coaching draws out rather than puts in. It develops rather than imposes. It reflects rather than directs. Effective coaching is a form of change facilitation  – it enables people, rather than trains them. Coaching is reactive and flexible – it allows for personal transition on an individual basis. Coaching makes no assumptions – it’s not judgemental, nor is it prescriptive or instructional. Empathy is central to the coaching process. Good personal coaching seeks to help the other person’s understanding of himself or herself. The personal opinions and preferences and needs of the coach are irrelevant – good coaching is about helping other people to understand themselves, where they want to be, and helping them to get there.
Coaching helps people to develop and grow in a variety of areas, and this is leading to the development of separate coaching specialisms that are becoming new coaching disciplines in their own right, covering: personal coaching and life coaching, coaching for life-balance and life-change, parenting; self-fulfillment and self-discovery; self-belief  and confidence; career coaching for advancement and job choices leadership  and management coaching; coaching for sales and selling successful business planning executive coaching for corporate performance and director development.
Coaching is about getting the very best out of someone and enabling them to make decisions that will improve their life. Coaches are hired for very many different and diverse reasons, for example: to climb the career ladder faster; to feel more fulfilled at work; to improve relationships with family and partners; to learn parenting skills that benefit both the child and parent; to gain a spiritual meaning to life, or a desire to ‘get sorted’.
